The Popular Conference for Palestinians Abroad (PCPA)
Al-Aqsa Mosque must remain open. The decision to close or open it must not be dictated by the Zionist occupation.
The General Assembly of the Popular Conference for Palestinians Abroad (PCPA) is following with great interest and apprehension this confusion caused by the personal statement of a member of the council of the Jerusalem Islamic Waqf to “suspend Muslims entry to the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque for a period of three weeks,” thus setting the stage for a dangerous resemblance to a former such occurrence.
Therefore, we call on the Jerusalem Islamic Waqf’s council to unify the stand on confronting the Zionist dictates and to stand in the way of attempts to impose the agenda of the occupation authorities in Jerusalem through the alleged measures of the COVID-19 pandemic, as taking health precautions does not justify the closure of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, which must remain open at all times, while maintaining proper personal hygiene rules.
While we salute the call of Sheikh Omar Al-Kiswani, director of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, to seek the mosque; we call on the masses of our people in Jerusalem, the West Bank and other Palestinian areas to embrace this call. Moreover, we call on the Jordanian government, which has jurisdiction over Islamic sanctities, to oppose the plans of the Zionist occupation, and its collusion with the US President’s Administration, to implement the Jerusalem part of the Deal of the Century. We affirm our right to Jerusalem as an inalienable right that no one is entitled to infringe on.
